Heavy rain caused flash flooding in multiple slot canyons and high travel areas in Zion National Park. These areas included Lodge Canyon, Pine Creek Canyon, Spry Canyon, Clear Creek, and Highway 9. Three hikers were caught in the Spry Canyon flood and went over two cliffs, the first of which was 40 feet high, and the second 60 feet high. All three men survived the ordeal.
NOAA record 252277 ↗Heavy rain caused flash flooding in Sheets Gulch, on the eastern edge of Capitol Reef National Park. Water also flowed over the Notom Road, forcing rangers to close the road. People in the area, who observed the flash flooding, described it as a class 4 rapid coming out of the slot canyon.
