NOAA record 1208138 ↗Heavy rains from a thunderstorm fell upstream of Indian Creek and Salt Creek Wash between 1630 and 1800. Water flowed through both Indian Creek and Salt Creek Wash where it intersects with Highway 211 in Canyonlands National Park Needles District causing flash flooding with water flowing rapidly through the washes with some small tree branches.
NOAA record 1208153 ↗One of several thunderstorms across Southeast Utah on the afternoon of July 20th began to rotate and produced a landspout tornado near Verdure in San Juan County, UT, along US Highway 191. This landspout was reported to the Grand Junction NWS office by a trained spotter, and this report was later confirmed by images and video provided by a media partner in the Salt Lake City NWS office's area.
NOAA record 1206662 ↗An area of strong to severe thunderstorms moved over the Blanding area in Southeast Utah on the afternoon of the 27th. In addition to other severe threats, this storm produced some severe winds, including 2 recorded gusts to 69 mph at the KBDG AWOS at the Blanding Municipal Airport. These gusts were recorded at 4:31 PM MDT and 4:35 PM MDT. No reports of damage from wind were received.
NOAA record 1198111 ↗Significant flooding occurred due to heavy rains from a thunderstorm near Valley of the Gods and northeast of Mexican Hat. Fast moving waters covered Highway 163 near Valley of the Gods for a distance of 540 meters and 1 meter deep. Cottonwood Wash had major flood, surrounding house and filling flood plain. San Juan River spiked from 8.3 ft (2670 cfs) to 17.99 ft (20,700 cfs) near Mexican Hat. 28
NOAA record 1198336 ↗Multiple photos and videos on social media from multiple angles indicated a brief spin up of a landspout on Highway 191 near Hole N The Rock, or about 16 miles south of Moab, UT. No damage was reported.
NOAA record 1198124 ↗A public report indicated 1.5 inch diameter hail on the San Juan River near Cha Bay. Time is estimated from RADAR.
NOAA record 1196881 ↗A COOP Observer near La Sal, UT reported 1 inch hail in association with a severe thunderstorm that passed over the area on the morning of the 21st.
NOAA record 1198241 ↗A severe thunderstorm forming on the nearby Abajo Mountains tracked over the city of Blanding in Southeast Utah, producing multiple severe weather hazards, including strong to severe winds. The peak recorded gust was 65 mph at KBDG AWOS at Blanding Municipal Airport, which occurred around 2 PM MDT. No reports of damage from wind were received.
