Clear all filtersThe gage on the Paria River at US Highway 89 went from 3 cfs to 4419 cfs in 15 minutes. The peak flow was one hour later, with a reading of 7328 cfs. Eyewitnesses near the highway bridge indicated that the flood carried large trees and boulders.
NOAA record 197679 ↗Heavy rainfall resulted in flash flooding in the Randlett area. Fast flowing water from 1 to 3 feet deep washed out several driveways and cut a deep gully across a road that branches off of 7500 East. Many agricultural fields were flooded, inundating irrigation sprinkler systems.

NOAA record 187236 ↗Thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall that brought a wall of water 5 to 7 feet deep down Kane Creek which inundated a low water crossing of Kane Creek Road and washed away three newer model SUVs. All three vehicles were destroyed. All 17 tourists, which included 9 children, abandoned their vehicles just seconds prior to the flash flood arrival. Eventually, the entire valley filled up with water

Runoff water one to two feet foot deep was flowing rapidly across Highway 191 as a UHP vehicle traveling between mile markers 115 and 116 was washed off the highway. The highway was damaged in places.
