Clear all filtersAt 4:50 PM MDT, the mesonet site PC353 Vernal West recorded a wind gust to 58 mph. This was associated with a passing thunderstorm that also produced a wind gust to 48 mph at the KVEL ASOS at Vernal Airport, on the other side of town. No reports of damages, injuries, or fatalities were received.
NOAA record 1295200 ↗At 1322 MST on September 16, a trained spotter reported 1 inch diameter hail 9 miles ESE of Whiterocks, Utah.
NOAA record 1295653 ↗A strong thunderstorm over the Eastern Uinta Mountains produced outflow winds up to 59 mph, which was a measured peak wind gust at the Vernal Regional Airport at 1444 MST.
