Clear all filtersHeavy rainfall from a thunderstorm falling over steep terrain in Nephi Canyon caused flooding and an associated closure of SR-132 at mile marker 35. A railroad weather station located near the top of the adjacent canyon recorded 0.59 inches of rain in 10 minutes and 0.9 inches of rain in 30 minutes. Time and location are estimated.
NOAA record 1278637 βA wind gust of 58 mph was recorded at the I-15 @ Sevier River NB mesonet site.
NOAA record 1274649 βThe FISH SPRINGS mesonet station recorded a wind gust of 61 mph as a result of outflow winds associated with a nearby cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving through the area.
NOAA record 1246984 βEvery entry comes from the NOAA / NCEI Storm Events Database, the federal record of severe weather in the United States. We reproduce it here filtered to Utah and made searchable β we do not edit, add to, or interpret the records. Where NOAA lists a wind speed in knots we show it in miles per hour; everything else is verbatim.
Locations are NOAA's own county and National Weather Service forecast-zone names, which is why you will see both Salt Lake and Wasatch Mountains South of I-80. A storm not listed here was not necessarily absent β it means NOAA has no recorded report for it, which is common for isolated hail.
