Clear all filtersAt approximately 7:31 PM MDT, the KVEL ASOS at the Vernal Regional Airport recorded a gust of 58 mph. Other sensors around the zone recorded gusts of 47-53 mph. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received associated with this event.
NOAA record 1341436 ↗The Vernal CWOP site, which is on the west side of town, recorded a gust to 64 mph at 4:40 PM MDT. A gust to 57 mph also was recorded at this site at 5:50 PM MDT. Both these gusts are likely the result of non-convective enhancement from nearby precipitation. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.

The KVEL ASOS in Vernal recorded a peak gust to 51 mph, while other recorded wind gust across the zone fell into the 45-63 mph range. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.

The first gust, to 58 mph, occurred at 1:20 PM MDT, and the second gust, to 72 mph, occurred at 6:10 PM MDT. These were the only two gusts to reach this strength in the area on this day. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.

The peak recorded wind gust was 64 mph at the Vernal Citizen Weather Observation Program mesonet location in Vernal, on the evening of the 23rd. Peak wind gusts occurred after the cold front passed and winds switched to northwesterly, with favors downsloping in that part of the Uinta Basin and enhances wind gusts.
